When I visited a local bookshop in Fort Kochi and asked for recommendations for a local novel, the store owner gave me “The god of small things” by Arundhati Roy. It’s a great read and what are the odds… the story plays in Aymenem! A tiny village in the Kerala backwaters, where I was moving next.
It was super serene, slow pace of life, lots of birds, a bit hot and humid but well worth it!

I stayed in a homestay again, called Riverdale Homestay. It was very serene, right next to a rice paddy, the host family was very nice and the food excellent!

Backwater cruises are big business and touristy. Thankfully, one of the neighbors had a small boat and took me around for a very beautiful afternoon trip.

My host family was sooo nice, treated my like a house guest with wonderful food and helped me with all the travel logistics I needed. Their son Kevin even came with me on the boat trip to translate and point out the different birds.

I am jealous :D. But, super happy that you are doing what you wanted to.
I like the way you have designed this blog – almost like I am digitally travelling just reading your lines and looking at the pictures.
So nicely done. Looks like you had wonderful time at the backwater cruises and enjoyed Kerala cuisine 🙂
